I hope that you have allready transfered the money for the EUDC 2008 participation. If you didn’t, well you still have a couple of hours, it you are lucky enough. Do it ASAP.
I have just heard that there are still some big and “important” institutions that didn’t manage to apply any teams, even institutions that, for example have judges that are bidding to be CA’s for next years Euros.
This all means that this years EUDC council will be very interesting, because there will be some institutions that will try to change the system in the way that all interested institutions get a spot on EUDC. I believe that it would be fair to get everyone here, but on the other hand, I love that we can send three teams to euros this year, and I would like to send more.
What do you believe is the best system.

Adding information to this website daily is a lot of fun and I love it to see how this website grows and how the visitor count grows also.
Because I would like to have all the information as organized as possible I’ve established two new categories, that are going to bring you all the info about the EUDC 2008 in Tallinn and for the EUDC 2009 wherever is it going to be.
I advise you to subscribe to the RSS feeds for both competitions so that you do not miss any info.
The same is going to happen with WUDC so do come back!

Answering this question is hard. I see answers out there, but sometimes it is just better to let someone else do the job for you.
Watch this video and when you listen to the first story in the video.
Connecting the dots, that will show you, how and when you use the knowledge and skills that you get at debating, can not be done into the future. Now you are sadly not able to know, where and when you will say “Damn, I learned that at debate and really needed that just now.”
But I’m certain, that if you do debate, and if you learn all that debate can give you, you will be able to use that in your future life. I am using it right now, I am using every day, when I write articles for people that I do not know, but they pay me for this. And they say that they like it. And all that I do is just follow a couple of simple rules, that I learned while debating.
You will to, just do not give up debate.

When I was only a student, and not yet a debater, a good friend of mine tried to get me to a debate club so that I would see, what it is all about. But I did not get there, for several reasons, mainly because I was plain lazy.
It all changed when this friend invited me to a one week debate workshop, that took place in Ljubljana at that time and told me, that there will be an international debate professor. I came, I saw, and I stayed. For next 6 years.
Every year I go, and now help to organize, the International debate academy Slovenia (a.k.a. IDAS). It has transformed a lot, and now every year we host 50 or more students and trainers from all around the world. Europe, IONA, USA, Singapore, and we had others, Australia etc.
I know I’m bias about it, but I went to a couple of other academies, or other debate trainings and have yet to find one, that I could say that it is better than IDAS.
If nothing else, it takes place in the best Slovenian (and internationaly known) wine region. But thats not what should make you come to IDAS and Slovenia. Its the debate fun, workshops, debates, practice debates and the debate tournament at the end, that should bring you here.
Come. Apply. DEBATE.

And I’m not bragging about it, but Google has just decided, that this page is the best one to get debate motions from. That means, that what I’m doing here is good, and I will continue to do it.
Google has placed me on the first place for the keyword debate motions, even over idebate.org and Flynn’s site.
I’m glad about it, because this was one of the goals for this website.
Of course the main goal still remains, satisfying you, my visitors.
So give me feedback, what do you want, and we will try to fill in the gaps

I just had a discussion about this webpage, on how much of the material on this webpage is unique, and what is copied from other webpages.
And it is true, a lot of things have been taken from other webpages, I have noted some of the links, and maybe not all of them are next to the text, because a lot of information is combined from different webpages.
But what I need to say is, there are two webpages, that I regulary use and check (or their blogs) to get information about what is going on out there.
And I need to say thanks to those pages, again with a link, beucause this is the web way to say it.
So here they are,
http://flynn.debating.net/ and
http://debate.uvm.edu.
Thanks both of you, I have spoken to Tuna, webmaster of the second webpage and we both use information one from another, and have no problem with that.
Fair is fair, go and check out these great websites, but don’t forget to get back here, or just RSS me

Again this is the time in the year, where we have a lot of different tournaments. After the Slovenian nationals last weekend in BP, I’m going to tab the International high school debate tournament in Postojna, Slovenija this weekend.
What is even more interesting, I’m going to have a guy help me in the TAB for his first time. So next to the tabing, I’ll have to explain all the stuff to the guy. I know him from before, so I know that it will be ok. And luckily this is one of the smaller tournaments. This is not really a happy info, because this will probably be the smallest international tournament that we have ever hosted. But it will be ok.
I will post about the tournament tomorrow and on saturday.
