Thailand WSDC 2014 motions

Round 0: THW Ban Children From Becoming Professional Models
Round 1: This house believes that post-revolution states should delegate trials of former rulers and high-ranking officials to the International Criminal Court.
Round 3: This house would allow prisoners to volunteer for drug trials in exchange for lighter sentences.
Round 4 (impromptu): This house would require companies to pay their interns.
Round 5: This house believes that slum tourism does more harm than good.
Round 6 (impromptu): THW not allow unvaccinated children to attend public schools.
Round 7: This house would lift tax exemptions from religious institutions that refuse to recognize marriage equality.
Octo finals: This House Would not Prosecute Defamation
Grand Finals: THBT Asean political union is an impossible dream.

I was not able to find all the motions. If you have any that I’m missing, please contact me, or just write it in the comments.

These motions were prepared by the 2013/14 WSDC Motions Committee and verified by two external, independent checkers.

The Motions Committee is just finalising the wording of the Grand Final motion and it will be released very soon.

German Language Championships 2012

Motions from the German Language Championships held in Austria, June 7-10. The motions are translated from the German language, because the tournament was in German.

Round 1: This house would oblige pharmaceutical companies to spend half of their research budgets on illnesses that occur primarily in developing countries
Round 2: This house wouldforbid domestic security services to monitor Members of Parliaments
Round 3: Thise house would continue the European Football Championships with 16 participating teams
Round 4: This house, which is technically capable to do so, would clone Neandertalers
Round 5: This house would create Eurobonds
Round 6: This house would not perform any plays of Thomas Bernhard in Austria
Round 7: This house supports the foundation of an independent Kurdic state
Quarter: This house condemns the use of unmanned weapon systems (drones) against human targets
Semi: This house would use geo-engineering to combat climate change
Final: This house supports large-scale migration from poor to rich regions in the European Union

Split Union Open 2014

Debate topics from the tournament Split Union Open, held in Split, Croatia, May 18th 2012.

Round 1: This house would ban single sex schools
Round 2: This house would disband NATO
Round 3: This house would make votes public
Round 4: This house would allow pharmaceutical companies to advertise prescription drugs
Final: This house would create ethnic diversity in neighborhoods by introducing housing quotas

Norddeutschen Regionalmeisterschaft 2012

The Norddeutschen Regionalmeisterschaft was held in Kiel, Germany, April 21-22 2012. The tournament was held in German language, here are the translated motions:

Round 1: This house calls for a common European army
Round 2: This house would lift the ban on dancing (Tanzverbot, probably more a general celebration ban) on the “quiet holidays” (Good Friday, Memorial Day and Remembrance Sunday (Totensonntag))
Round 3: This house would make the ‘morning after pill’ available without doctor’s recipe
Round 4: This house would cancel the exemption on the 5% vote threshold for national minorities
Semi: This house believes that the Olympic Idea has outlived itself
Final: This house would allow audio and video recording of court procedures and the public dissemination of the recordings

HSE Open 2012

The HSE open debate tournament in 2012 was held in Moscow, April 7-8. The motions:

Round 1: This house believes that all teachers should openly declare their sexuality to their pupils
Round 2: This house would set legally binding minimal physical parameters for fashion models
Round 3: This house would treat cyber attacks as acts of war
Round 4: This house would legalize all drugs
Round 5: This house would not use public money on life-extending medical care for people over a certain age
Semi: This house believes that change comes through molotov cocktails, not with a voting ballot
Final: In the case where human space exploration efforts locate an inhabitable planet, This house believes that the settlers of that planet should construct a society without private property

1. This House will shift all military establishment out of Dhaka
2. This House will close all diplomatic ties with Pakistan till it apologizes for the genocide in 1971
3. This House will require a minimum Bachelor’s degree to stand in general election.

Round 5: Love and Affection
1. This House will allow public display of affection
2. This House will allow the over the counter sale of sex enhancing drugs and sex toys.
3. This house will ban all free pornography

R1: THW privatize the police.
R2: THBT the increasing participation of women in violent sports is good for women
R3: THW pay drug addicts to get sterilized
R4: THW ban positive depictions of former dictators and convicted war criminals
R5: The withdrawal of forces of foreign troops from states in w/c they intervened should be subject to a referendum by people in that state

QF: THW make shareholders legally liable for environmental damage and labour abuse by the companies they invest in.

Open Final: This House Would establish geographical zones where the selling and consuming of any and all drugs are legal.

DDG Master’s Cup 2012

Motions from the DDG Master’s Cup 2012, Eisenach, Germany, September 29-30. The tournament was held in german language, the debate topics are translated.

Round 1: This house believes in the right of bodily integrity of children
Round 2: This house would out homosexual football players (or forcibly out those it knows about)
Round 3: This house would abolish the Beamtenstatus (i.e. a body of exceptions to the laws governing all citizens of the state granted to some categories of civil servants)
Round 4: This house chooses immortality
Semi: This house declares the war on drugs a failure
Final: This house believes that it is (fully) sufficient to combat the symptoms
